A new and exciting research network, “N.E.S.T – Narratives for Ecological and Sustainable Transitions,” has just launched. Funded by the European Union (NextGenerationEU) and the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MUR), N.E.S.T. unites early-career postdoctoral researchers from various European universities to tackle climate change through powerful storytelling. This initiative has the potential to make a significant impact in the field of empirical ecocriticism.
The network will explore how environmental narratives can impact local communities across Europe, addressing critical socio-ecological issues like air pollution, water pollution, environmental toxicity, and global warming. Through a blend of qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-method approaches, N.E.S.T. will conduct a series of narrative-based workshops. These workshops aim to use literature and cultural heritage to inspire critical thinking, bridge local and global concerns, and share best practices between academia and civil society.
Needless to say, we’re very excited to see where this new development will go!
